Correspondence Allbeury/Dobel
Any volunteers to do a transcription?
1887 Letter Harriet Ann Allbeury to Louisa Dobel Four Pages
In Memoriam Card 1907 Louisa Dobel nee Allbeury
Letter from Mrs G Dolbel (sic) to Evelyn Streitberg undated but circa 1914. The first is a cover note by Bess Peterkin and a transcription of the letter and the second a copy of the letter. These entries are copied onto other pages of the blog as well. The square bracket insertions are by me to clarify who is speaking or the subject.
Cover note
March 16th 1974This copy of relationships came to me [Bess] with
a lot of odds and ends given to me by Jack [Streitberg]
within the past 10 years. I can well
remember it coming to Mum [Evelyn Streitberg] and the comments
about it - I must have been about 14 or 16
at this time. There was possibly a letter
with it. The original is very fragile about
impossible to read where it has been folded.
Note also the surname is Dolbel not Dobell.
yours Bess. [Peterkin]
Aunt Binet at the time of her death was
named Babot having married again and she
our aunt was your father's and my mother's
half sister our grandmother Allbeury having
been married three times, your father and
my mother were full brother & sister and
there was another brother Henry Allbeury
who died at sea when quite a young man
The Allbeury's were pure English (originated in
Kent) but on the grandmothers side were
pure Jersey stock but 400 years previous or
thereabouts were French Huguenots.
