Montague St (would have been South Melb)
Dear Madam
I made enquiries about the house you wrote about. I find the prices is raised to £600. Terms £50 deposit & balance as may be arranged. I send you particulars of another at £460. This one is not far from Camberwell Station & is in a prime high position but has the disadvantage in it distance from town but Camberwell is a very rising place. The house in (Hull or Hill st) is in a convenient position close to the train in Richmond, it is on the top of a hill going towards Kew. I heard of a wooden cottage in John St Hawthorn to rent 14/- per week, four rooms, bath, pantry [...?]. This is close to Glenferrie station & is in [...?] hands and he could show it to Mrs Foster. I hope your [sic] able to get up for a little time. I think if you could get into a chair for a time you would find you get your strength sooner, it is very weakening to remain in bed. I am sending you a cheque for the rent for Elsternwick in advance
Yours truly John (McMillan?)

Letter re Dobell estate Document 1
Letter from Margaret Stewart(?) to Mary Brown(?)
23 Aug 1934
My Dear Sister
Enclosed find a copy of a letter I got from the USA. Did you get one also.  I wrote three years ago to them, but they never answered my letter and they must have got it as I registered it. Do let me know what you are doing in the matter. Who is this Francis E Watts that seems to be very interested in the business. The property might be all they say about it, but the land value is there if they tumble down. This Francis does not say what the other three are willing to do. Hubby says let them have it. I don't see why we should. So write and let me know what your answer is going to be to them. What suggestions do you think we ought to make.  I am not to good.  I was to be operated on last April but hubby was against it; how my inside seems sore and I get pain in the left side that catches every now and again. The Allbeury family in Fremantle had a headstone put on their fathers grave. Our second son just won £100 in the State Lottery. Well I must close as I am tired. I have been a bit gay lately. I played for a dance on Sat night until 2.30am then Monday night there was a 21st Birthday in the hall. I had to do most of the playing for that till 2.30. Wednesday there was a kitchen tea to a girl who..

is marrying a chap by the name of Gower and is supposed to be a cousin of the Duchess of York. This Gower has a dairy farm milking 20 cows. The Duke when he comes is to have a day to rest in the country, place not to be known. We are wondering if it is down to this Gowers place.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
